An Artist’s Hideaway

Designed to serve as both a primary residence and a possible Airbnb rental, this unique home is as utilitarian as it is visually stunning, making use of every limited inch of space allotted to us. Our clients — an artistic young couple that loves to travel — came to us after a number of unsuccessful meetings with other builders who did not see the possibilities of their vision.

Together, we designed a home that offers a true wooded getaway — a place of retreat and renewal. The space features floor-to-ceiling frameless glass windows across the entire back of the home, soft mood lighting (inspired by the PUBLIC Hotel in NYC), extensive natural, modern materials (like wood, concrete, and metal), and a color palette thoughtfully designed to blend into the surrounding deep woods. Dappled light filters through the surrounding trees and fills this home, making its inhabitants feel as if they are being embraced by nature herself.
